President of the Russian Ski Racing Federation (FLGR) Elena Vyalbe admitted that she does not want to constantly discuss the conditions for the return of Russian athletes to international tournaments. His words were quoted “Match TV”.
“I don’t want to be a parrot. We will return to international tournaments only when we become Russians,” Vyalbe said.
At the end of February 2022, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) appealed to international sports federations, recommending that Russian and Belarusian athletes not be allowed to participate in any competitions.
Therefore, in the spring of 2022, the International Ski Federation (FIS), following the recommendations of the IOC, decided to suspend Russian and Belarusian athletes from international competitions until the end of the season. This decision was later extended. Russians compete only in local tournaments.
Now the skiers are focused on competing at the Russian Championships in Tchaikovsky (Tatarstan). Belarusian athletes also participate in the tournament.
