Two-time Olympic champion, now coach Evgeni Plushenko talked about the attitude of figure skaters to their inadequate parents. His words are quoted RIA News.

“How do you manage to find a common language with skaters’ parents? There are inadequate characters in this environment. But I immediately throw them out with the kids. The atmosphere in the group should be positive,” said Plushenko.

In 2017, just after completing his professional career, Plushenko announced the establishment of his figure skating academy Plushenko’s Angels. Over the years, Olympic champion Adelina Sotnikova, Sergei Rozanov and, since 2023, Alena Kostornaya studied at his academy.

In February 2023, Plushenko’s student Veronika Zhilina won the silver medal at the Russian junior championships, and Sofia Titova finished fourth.

On December 23, Plushenko’s ward, Sofia Muravyova, took second place at the Russian Championships. The victory was won by Eteri Tutberidze’s student Adelia Petrosyan. Olympic champion Kamila Valieva rounded out the top three.

Previously Vaitsekhovskaya statedValieva has long ceased to be Tutberidze’s favorite.
