International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach talked about the decision to allow athletes from Russia to participate in the Olympic Games in Paris. His words are quoted Time.

“Not meeting all of Ukraine’s demands does not mean supporting military operations, especially since we have been on the side of Ukrainian athletes from the very beginning.

Why should Ukraine punish its own athletes and rob them of their Olympic Games dreams over a military conflict?” – said Bach.

He also stated that the IOC’s decision to accept athletes from Russia did not fully satisfy both parties.

“This means that we have clearly found a balanced solution,” Bach said.

The IOC had previously announced six quotas for Russians to compete in the Olympic Games. The organization said Russian athletes will be required to sign updated terms of participation, which include a commitment to respect the Olympic Charter, including the “peaceful mission of the Olympic movement”. Russian athletes who rank well in their own disciplines will be allowed to compete.

Previously Russian gymnast expressed his doubtsHe will have the right to decide whether to go to the Olympic Games or not.
