Oksana Domnina, wife of Olympic ice dancing champion Roman Kostomarov, spoke on the Free Skating podcast about the time when her husband was in the hospital with pneumonia.
“When Roman was hospitalized, it seemed to me that everything would be quick, easy and nothing serious would happen. But everything turned out to be completely different, everything turned out to be much more complicated and difficult. And the test given to Roman, me and our entire family; We live it, we experience it, we try to accept it.
Even doctors who are professionals in their field said: “We have no chance. A hope is his strong heart, his struggle. If the body can’t cope we can’t do anything. Or later, when he had already climbed – if it were not for his desire, his desires and his athletic body – nothing would have happened,” Domnina said.
At the beginning of January 2023, Roman Kostomarov was hospitalized after New Year’s performances at an open-air show. It was reported that he was in intensive care due to pneumonia and was connected to a ventilator, and his condition was evaluated to be extremely serious. He later received treatment in Kommunarka. Parts of his arms and legs were amputated. At the beginning of July 2023, the skater was discharged from the hospital.
Kostomarov is the champion of the 2006 Olympic Games. He later won the gold medal in ice dancing with his partner Tatyana Navka.
Previously CSKA goalkeeper I’m amazed Kostomarov’s appearance on the ice.
