“This is a great shame for the world of sports. This is unfair and abnormal. Russia does not comply with the Olympic Truce and the same goes for doping. It turns out that anyone can doping and get permission to participate.
Neutral status is not enough. 90 percent of Russian athletes serve in the army. The same goes elsewhere: in Ukraine, in France, many athletes serve in the army. How to be impartial under these conditions? Why are they allowed to participate in competitions?” – said the Ukrainian.
On December 8, it was learned that Russians could go to the 2024 Olympics with neutral status. The IOC said Russian athletes will be required to sign updated conditions of participation, which include a commitment to respect the Olympic Charter, including the “peaceful mission of the Olympic movement”. Russian athletes who rank well in their own disciplines will be allowed to compete.
The Paris Olympic Games will take place between July 26 and August 11, 2024.
