LEGO Fortnite is a survival and building game. But you create not just one house for yourself, but build a whole village or even several settlements. By expanding and improving the village, you develop your abilities. In this guide we will tell you how to build a village, how to increase the rating of a settlement and how to improve its components.

Creating buildings in LEGO Fortnite is easy and fun thanks to the grid-based controls, from simple bonfires to complex, multi-layer structures reminiscent of construction sets.
Collection of building materials
To craft anything in LEGO Fortnite, you first need to collect basic resources by wandering around the environment. As you explore, keep an eye out for “junk” just lying on the ground. These are wood and granite, but to speed up the process you need tools.
Construction mode
Once you have collected enough materials, open the building menu by pressing the B button. Here you will find a list of items divided into categories such as “Useful Items” or “Furniture”. Select what you want to create and the project will appear.
Placement of buildings
Once you have placed the desired blueprint in the desired location, press the RT button to confirm and begin construction. Keep collecting materials from the surrounding world to build better buildings.

Construction of multi-phase buildings
For large structures, such as houses, the base piece must be installed first. Other parts are then manually attached to expand it. The number of phases is indicated in the description.
As you select each additional piece from the build menu, it fits neatly into place in the resulting structure. Start with a simple hut in 3 phases. The drawing shows the initial and final list of sources.
Remove buildings
You can also destroy anything you or other players have created. Simply attack the structure with a pickaxe or weapon to break it. This removes the assembly and restores some of the materials used to make it in the first place.
How to build a settlement
Creating a village in LEGO Fortnite is as easy as building the main square. As you complete the tutorial, you’ll create a campfire, a simple hut, and a workbench. All this is necessary to open the item “Main Horse”. You will also need to collect wood and granite that are scattered around.
To build a square it takes 10 units of wood and 10 units of granite.
By building a square you assign a color and symbol to your village icon on the map. However, you cannot change the name of the settlement.
Once this is done, you will receive rewards and unlock new mechanics depending on the level of your village.
How to level a village
Your village’s ranking is essentially a measure of how many buildings you’ve built and what items you’ve created. Think of it as a comfort assessment.
The more you build different things (from walls to new workbenches and decorations), the more your village’s rating will increase. When the value becomes high enough that you can level up the settlement itself, the town square will glow gold.

You can track your village’s ranking using the progress bar in the top right corner.
How to improve a village
Once you’ve rated your village enough to move on to the next level, head to the square. Go to the Settlement Upgrade tab in the menu and you’ll see the requirements for the next level, as well as the benefits you’ll receive when you unlock it.
Then all you have to do is gather the necessary resources and press the button. The first few updates require the following:
- Level 2: 15 wood and 15 granite;
- Level 3: 10 planks (made from sawmill wood) and 20 granite;
- Level 4: 10 roots, 15 planks, 25 granite.
Upgrading usually requires materials that you have barely used. It’s a way to force you to explore the world and grow. There are 10 upgrade levels in total.
What’s in Upgrading a Village: How Can You Unlock More Blueprints?
Leveling up your settlement will bring you rewards. These are new features for the village, such as the ability to add new residents, hire employees, or attract more infrequent visitors. You can see the rewards for leveling up by going to the Settlement Center tab.

More importantly, upgrading your village unlocks new building recipes. To obtain new blueprints, you also need to explore the world and improve individual items, for example a workbench.
