Arizona Coyotes hosted Tampa Bay Lightning in the third period of the National Hockey League (NHL) regular season match. A huge fight almost broke out in the third period.
With one minute left in regulation time, Tampa’s Russian forward Nikita Kucherov made a hard move on Canadian Coyotes defenseman Sean Durzi. The Russian pushed his opponent aside, knocking him out. This caused a fight between several players from both teams, which almost led to a mass brawl. Kucherov was given a two-minute penalty for using force. The Russian was extremely unhappy with the referee’s decision and nearly caused a massacre in the penalty area.
The match ended in victory for the home team with a score of 3:1. Kucherov assisted the goal scored by his team in the episode.
Kucherov leads the race for top scorers in the current NHL season. The Russian forward scored 15 goals and 22 assists in 22 matches.
Kucherov finished fourth (30+82) in the NHL regular season last season, behind David Pastrnak (113 points), Leon Draisaitl (129 points) and Connor McDavid (153 points).
