Bayern Munich is interested in signing Ronald Araújo

According to a report from Florian Plettenberg, Bayern Munich coach Thomas Tuchel is a huge admirer of the centre-back and would like to see him play at the Allianz Arena. However, they are not optimistic about his signing as it is clear that Barça want to keep the defender and give him a contract extension.

Since making his debut for the Blaugranas, Araujo has become a vital member of Barcelona and is currently regarded as one of the best centre-backs in Europe. When fit, he is considered one of the first names in Xavi’s squad, and it has long been predicted that he will eventually take over as captain. Araujo has also always stated that he likes playing for Barcelona, A transfer therefore does not seem realistic, although it is expected that the team will have to make a significant sale in the summer to alleviate its financial problems.

Earlier this year, Araújo revealed that he believes he could be the Catalan club’s captain after coming through the academy and making a name for himself as one of the club’s leaders.

“I am proud of the opportunity to become captain of Barcelona. but it doesn’t depend on me. We have to respect the players who have been here the longest. I consider myself a natural leader whether I wear the armband or not, and I will continue to do so for the rest of my career. I feel important and I think that was seen last year. I have to keep that up and help the team. We have to have a better season than last year.”

The Uruguayan is now the club’s third captain, behind experienced players Sergi Roberto and Marc André ter-Stegen.
