Russian forward and Washington Capitals’ captain Alexander Ovechkin scored the goal in the National Hockey League’s (NHL) regular season match against the New York Islanders.
Ovechkin scored in the 10th minute of the first period, with an assist from another Russian striker of the capital, Evgeny Kuznetsov. Ovechkin went on a goalless streak that spanned six games.
The game between Washington and the Islanders is in the first period.
Before facing the Islanders, Ovechkin had two goals and seven assists in 12 games of the season. Now, during his entire career in the NHL, the Russian forward has scored 825 goals. The difference with Wayne Gretzky is 69 goals. In third place is Gordie Howe, who scored 801 goals during his NHL career.
On November 11, Washington Capitals defeated the New Jersey Devils with a score of 4:2 in the regular season match of the National Hockey League. Russian striker Evgeny Kuznetsov scored double goals in this match. Ovechkin assisted the first goal.
