Brazilian Football Confederation Media Relations Director Rodrigo Paiva talked about the contacts made with the representatives of the Russian national team regarding the friendly match between the national teams. His words are quoted Sports24.
“Russia is open to organizing friendly matches for our national teams, but we do not have a free date for next year, our schedule is already full. “We are currently in contact about organizing a friendly match between Brazil and Russia in the future, but not in 2024,” Paiva said.
In the spring of 2022, the International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA) and the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) decided to suspend the participation of the Russian national team and all Russian clubs in all competitions controlled by these organizations. Starting from spring 2022, Russian clubs and the national team will play only friendly matches.
Russian clubs other than Zenit did not play a single match in European cups in 2022. The Russian national team, led by Valery Karpin, played five friendly matches in 2023.
