Former Russian national team player Alexander Mostovoy jumped at the chance to become a professional coach. His words are quoted “Soviet sport”.
“I’m not old enough to have ambitions. If I were 40, I would have ambitions. I haven’t thought ahead for a long time. You don’t understand what will happen in a week, a month, a year. “I have no goal of becoming a coach, maybe I never will,” Mostovoy said.
In early June, the Russian Football Union (RFU) announced that Mostovoy had applied for a Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) coaching license at the RFU academy.
It was reported that Mostovoy initially missed the deadline to submit the required application form for training, but the academy agreed to include the specialist in the list.
Most of Mostovoy’s career was spent abroad. He played for Portuguese Benfica, French Strasbourg and Spanish Celta. In the Soviet Union championship, Mostovoy played for Spartak Moscow.
Previously head coach and general director of Ramenskoye football club “Leon-Saturn” Roman Shirokov statedMostovoy refused to work at the club as an assistant to Oleg Kononov, who then headed the Moscow regional team.
