Sports commentator Dmitry Guberniev responded to the statements of the football federations of England and Ukraine that they will refuse to participate in tournaments under the auspices of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) in which the Russian national team will be allowed. TV presenter shared his opinion “Sports Express”.
“It’s a strange decision, to say the least. Let’s leave that to them. The most important thing is that most of the participants are ready to play. We must focus on those who are ready to accept us. There will be enough problems there already. If we just hit our wrist, we will lose the sport completely.
I believe that in this case there cannot be two opinions. Especially when it comes to the younger generation. In our country, adults often take on too much when it comes to our children. From my point of view, we need to go and open the window of this sport to Europe!” – said Guberniev.
On September 26, the UEFA executive board allowed Russian youth teams under the age of 17 to participate in international tournaments. However, they will take to the field without a flag or anthem. Matches will be played abroad.
On 27 September, England and Ukraine, as well as Sweden, Denmark, Poland, Latvia and Lithuania, announced that they would refuse to play against Russian teams.
In the spring of 2022, the International Football Federation (FIFA) and UEFA decided to suspend the participation of the Russian national team, as well as all Russian clubs, in all competitions controlled by these organizations.
Previously former Spartak player statedUEFA wants Russia to return.
