Former Spartak player: UEFA wants Russia back 17:52

Dmitry Alenichev, former midfielder of the Russian national team and Spartak Moscow, commented on the decision of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) to allow Russian youth teams under the age of 17 to participate in international tournaments, saying that the organization wants the return of these football players. “The organization actually wants Russia back. Moreover, forward movement is also noticeable. Logically, youth and women’s teams should be next,” said Alenichev.

On September 26, the executive board of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) allowed Russian youth teams under the age of 17 to participate in international tournaments. However, they will take to the field without a flag or anthem. Matches will be played abroad.

Since spring 2022, the participation of Russian national teams and clubs in international tournaments has been suspended. Valery Karpin’s team had the opportunity to play only friendly matches. All this time, the issue of joining the Asian Confederation was being discussed in football circles. A decision must be made by the end of 2023.
