Russian Premier League (RPL) President Alexander Alaev said that negotiations are continuing to change the format of the Russian championship. His words are quoted “Bookmaker rating”.
“A lot of preliminary work is going on, including with the publisher. There will be a meeting on Monday where we will discuss in detail everything about how we can affect ratings and attendance while changing the format based on the numbers. Another meeting with the clubs in an expanded format is planned for the same week, where the head of the working group, Pavel Pivovarov, will present a number of developments,” Alaev said.
Currently the RPL hosts a “smooth” championship, with 16 teams playing each other twice (one game away, the other away) during the season.
In the spring of 2022, the International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA) and the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) decided to suspend the participation of the Russian national team and all Russian clubs in all competitions controlled by these organizations. This led to the Russian Cup format being changed to saturate the playing schedule.
Previously at RPL said About a strong decrease in the salaries of league players.
