Russian swimmer Sofia Spodarenko, who changed her sports citizenship to Kazakhstan in August, responded to accusations of treason on Instagram (the owner of Meta was recognized as an extremist and banned in Russia).
The athlete posted screenshots with negative comments directed at him and posted an inappropriate photo in response.
“I got something better to kiss for the haters [кое-что получше для поцелуя — перевод с англ.]. Here I was asked how I had endured the hate about my transition. And I’m like, “What is hate?” I asked. I was allowed to read the comments. I have all kinds of crappy armor, ”wrote Spodarenko.
Spodarenko, 25, is a native of the Kazakh city of Ust-Kamenogorsk. She is the 2018 Russian champion in the 50m butterfly.
On 14 July, President of the All-Russian Swimming Federation (VFTU) Vladimir Salnikov announced the decision of the International Swimming Federation (World Aquatics) not to dismiss the WWF despite Ukraine’s demands.
