Spectators booed Conor McGregor, former champion of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), who knocked out the mascot of the National Basketball Association (NBA) Miami Heat.
The mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter took the field on the Heat’s court against the Denver Nuggets in Game 4 of the NBA Finals. Fans started whistling as the Irishman stepped onto the pitch, and the whistling got louder as McGregor hit the mascot twice.
The 34-year-old McGregor’s last fight was in a duel with American Dustin Poirier at the UFC 264 tournament. The match was completed in the first round, resulting in the Irishman breaking his foot.
At the end of October 2022, it was reported that McGregor could return to the octagon in six months at the latest. To be admitted to the competition, an athlete must pass a six-month doping test and provide two negative tests.
