Deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, former world boxing champion Nikolai Valuev reacted to the decision of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) Court of Appeal to cancel the suspension of membership of the Russian Paralympic Committee (RPC).

“Another proof of the need to go to court. This is the only communication language with them,” said Valuev and continued his words as follows: “Sports Express”.

The IPC Court of Appeals accepted the RPC’s objection to the suspension of membership in the organization on technical grounds. However, this does not mean that Paralympic athletes return to competition.

RPC has been deprived of all the rights of an IPC member except the right to appeal this decision. However, it can be finally repealed by the IPC General Assembly.

The IPC removed the RPC’s membership in the organization in August 2016, before the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. RPC was conditionally reinstated in March 2019.

Dmitry Svishchev, former chairman of the State Duma Committee on Physical Culture and Sport spoke About the possible return of Russian Paralympic athletes to international competitions. He stated that they were repeatedly subjected to inhumane treatment.
