Ester Garcia Lopez, the lawyer of the woman who accused Brazilian football player Dani Alves of rape, gave the sentence she wanted.
The lawyer said his client expressed hope that Alves would receive a prison sentence.
“Many women do not disclose the rapist when it comes to a person in public because of difficulties on the emotional and judicial level. But arrest without bail is already indicative, ”quotes Lopez UOL.
On January 25, El Periodico reported that an autopsy confirmed the presence of Alves’ fingerprints in the nightclub bathroom and characteristic scars on the alleged victim’s body. Police also have footage from the video camera that took the girl’s statement right after the incident.
Dani Alves, 39, was arrested on 20 January. The world’s most titled football player faces a prison sentence of 4 to 12 years.
Alves became the champion of France, Spain, Italy and also won the national cups of these countries. As part of the Brazilian national team, he twice won the Confederations Cup and the America’s Cup, and also became the winner of the Olympic Games and the World Junior Championships.
