The Frenchman is playing his second tournament at just 23 years old and will play the final again in search of another star.
The Qatar World Cup 2022 After just under a month of competition almost without a break, it will have its long-awaited final on Sunday 18 December in Lusail. And just like in the Russian edition, one of the finalists will be France, who will try to become a two-time champion against Argentina at the hands of their star, Kylian Mbappé.
Mbappé in the World Cups: matches, goals and effectiveness
Mbappé wants to continue making history in the World Cups. The Frenchman played his first World Cup in 2018 at the age of just 19 and won the title in his first participation with France. If he was one of the most projected players in Europe, that tournament elevated him to a world star, even comparing him to Pelé, who also won his first title in his first world championship.
Mbappe scored 4 goals in his first World Cup in Russia. One against Peru in the group stage, two against Argentina in the round of 16 and one more in the final to Croatia.
Now in Qatar, with only 23 years, Mbappé is the top scorer of the tournament together with his PSG teammate Lionel Messi five goals: one to Australia, two to Denmark and two more in the round of 16 to Poland.
Mbappe played 12 games, with an average of 0.75 goals per game from World Cups, a very good figure considering the few competitions there are in the World Cups.
