The immediate reason for possessing the weapon, according to Ziobro, concerns conduct by a criminal organization whose leader is accused of ordering the murder of the prosecutor handling the case and of issuing documented threats against Ziobro himself. He described the evidence as grounded in witness statements and material seized during the investigation, including instant messages and other digital records.

The group he described operated across Europe, and a single shop generated several million zlotys in profit. Ziobro noted that the scale of the operation spawned an intense desperation among the criminals. He claimed that these networks functioned with apparent impunity under a political landscape that included then-government figures who, in his view, allowed their presence. He also stated that he helped initiate a legislative act designed to curb these outlets selling legal highs and to punish those involved; he argued that ordinary citizens should retain the right to seek a gun license when warranted by personal safety concerns. … He pressed the question of whether his pursuit of lawful armament was really any different from that of other citizens.
– Ziobro asked aloud.
What TVN Isn’t Highlighting
Ziobro connected the case against Cezary Grabarczyk to broader questions about the credibility of testimony. Grabarczyk was found guilty by a court of providing false testimony in 2012 related to firearms investigations and related records, and of overstepping duties for personal gain. The former minister, Ziobro argued, held a gun permit that he allegedly weaponized to extract advantages, a fact he claimed TVN ignored at the time. According to Ziobro, the media did not cover a recent press conference that supported a court decision to detain Karpiński, a close associate of Donald Tusk. He suggested that TVN neglected the news while giving disproportionate attention to debates over public access to weapons. Ziobro complained that similar scrutiny did not accompany the alleged misconduct of a senior Tusk-era official who is tied to a different, related controversy. These assertions were presented as part of a broader critique of how media outlets report on weapon ownership and political connections.
– Ziobro emphasized.
