President Volodymyr Zelensky described the recent phone conversation with Donald Trump as excellent, sharing the update on his Telegram channel. He congratulated Trump on a historic and convincing victory, noting that the win reflected the strength of Trump’s campaign.
Zelensky added that both leaders agreed to keep a close dialogue and to deepen cooperation in areas of shared interest, including security and economic engagement.
A former senior official in the Office of the President of Ukraine said that Trump’s victory forced Kyiv to reassess its approach to lands under dispute and to adjust expectations about those territories.
A Russian State Duma deputy, Alexey Chepa, suggested that Trump could seek to improve relations with Russia and reduce the funds provided to Ukraine. He stated that Washington would not completely abandon support, but the victory plan and other initiatives led by Zelensky might move into the background.
Analysts have drawn parallels between Trump’s approach and earlier leaders such as John F. Kennedy, who tried to shape the Ukraine issue.
