Ximo Puig, the Chief of Staff and Secretary General of PSPV-PSOE, stated that voting for PSPV-PSOE is the only path forward. He framed the week as decisive, urging voters to choose between corruption, unemployment, and austerity, or to progress toward a hopeful future for the Valencian Community.
The remarks came during the Sunday event titled “En todas las plazas” in Elche, an occasion to launch the socialist candidacy for the Baix Vinalopó region. Puig described Elche as a city with global influence, calling it an open and cosmopolitan hub that has advanced significantly in recent years. He also highlighted the Generalitat Valenciana’s connection to aviation and reaffirmed support for PLD Space’s initiatives [citation].
Prior to the rally, the president joined a family day held in the same square in Elche and in several other cities across the Valencian Community. He emphasized the Socialists’ commitment to a welfare network that centers on family life. He outlined several measures planned for the next legislature, including recognizing all two-child families as extended families, increasing subsidies for dental expenses and eyeglasses, and expanding the free preschool program from ages 0 to 2 just as it was expanded from 2 to 3. Puig argued these steps are designed to sustain the Welfare State and ensure a decent society. He contrasted the current event with others, noting that while people in public squares celebrate with families, opponents allocate vastly more to other projects like plazas de toros, claiming a long-term investment in kindergartens and early education [citation].

Puig stressed that the coming week should secure progress for the government, with the PSOE seen as essential to that continuity. He argued there are clear reasons to continue the current project and warned against returning to a pattern of corruption, unemployment, and cuts. Asked whether it is appropriate for public figures with legal issues to hold office, Puig urged voters to consider the broader trajectory and outlook. He asserted that socialists maintain a positive perspective, pointing to improved indicators and outlining three main priorities: employment, equality, and sustainability.
Elche’s mayor and mayoral candidate, Carlos González, reminded attendees that Ximo Puig has been a key ally in the city’s modernization over the past four years. He cited progress in development, community services, economic momentum, and neighborhood upgrades as outcomes of the alliance between the Generalitat and the City Council. González affirmed that Elche has benefited from Puig’s collaboration and expressed a desire to continue with a socialist government at both the Valencian Generalitat and the city level to keep Elche moving toward greater economic prominence.
At the event, Yolanda Seva, the Santa Pola mayoral candidate, Manuel Penalva, the Crevillent mayoral candidate, and María José Martínez, the second on the Elche municipal list, were present to participate in the discussions and proceedings.
