With regional elections slated for May 28, a civic support initiative backing Generalitat Valenciana President Ximo Puig continues to widen its reach across the province. The effort, which promotes a continued third Botànic alliance, has already held prior events in Alicante, Orihuela, and Elche in recent weeks. Most recently, Alcoy hosted a session where the independent group connected with the l’Alcoià Pensioners Coordinating Body and the Comtat through its spokesperson, Antonio Matarredona. A historian and author, Gerardo Muñoz, who supports the civic effort, affirmed that the government in the Community of Valencia remains on a progressive path following the Alcoy gathering.
The platform plans ongoing outreach across different areas of the province. In line with that strategy, a forthcoming promotional event is set for Ondara next Tuesday. A separate presentation is tentatively scheduled for Thursday in La Vila Joiosa. Earlier campaigns included gatherings in Elda on April 5 and in Villena, though the exact date for Villena remains unconfirmed.
Platform organizers intend to stage additional, more targeted meetings beyond these public actions to introduce themselves and their goals. For instance, an event is planned for April 21 in Benidorm focused on tourism, while another is planned for April 28 in Elche to discuss the province’s broader European perspective. The organizers aim to attract the presence of at least half a dozen deputies from socialist, green, and liberal groups at that gathering. An Orihuela date is tentatively planned and will address Vega Baja’s diverse concerns, spanning water resources, residential tourism, agriculture, and connectivity among others.
An event scheduled for early April in Alicante will examine the relationship between young people and politics. Another engagement is planned in Alcoy to center discussions on the situation of the retired and elderly population. Across these meetings, the platform hopes to see Puig in attendance as it advances its programmatic agenda.
The self-styled civic coalition is known as “Ximo president” and is building support across the country in support of the PSPV leadership figure, seeking to broaden its political base beyond its initial locales.
