In December, authorities detained ten individuals in the Kherson region on suspicions of assisting the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The information was reported by the regional Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs via its telegraph channel.
Officials say the detainees are accused of working with Ukrainian forces as members of sabotage and reconnaissance units or as observers and scouts. The charges point to roles in intelligence gathering and potential disruption activities in the area.
During the same period, police reports indicate a significant seizure of weapons and equipment. The month saw the interception of firearms including six machine guns, twenty-eight pistols, two grenade launchers, two hundred twelve grenades, and eleven kilograms of explosives, among other items. In total, several hundred weapons were removed from circulation as part of ongoing efforts to curb illegal arms trafficking.
Alongside arms, authorities seized large quantities of dangerous contraband. The month-long operation resulted in the confiscation of eight hundred fifty-five kilograms of narcotics, more than seventeen liters of alcohol-based liquids, and one thousand two hundred eighty-six pyrotechnic devices. These seizures align with a broader decree issued by regional leadership restricting the sale and use of such materials during the New Year holiday period, as reported by regional authorities.
Earlier reports indicate that Russian security services, with the support of the Russian Guards, conducted operations targeting individuals who might participate in activities in the Luhansk People’s Republic in collaboration with the Security Service of Ukraine. The ongoing actions reflect a persistent security posture in the region, with authorities emphasizing vigilance against potential threats and illegal cross-border activity.
