Recent reports describe flooding in Vladivostok caused by heavy rainfall. The mayor of Vladivostok, Konstantin Shestakov, confirmed that water levels have dropped markedly across the city, though some areas continue to experience flooding.
He noted that the most affected zones are being assessed with the aid of aerial drones, and that administrative commissions will begin targeted work in those districts to expedite relief and recovery efforts.
The Sputnik district lies on the outskirts of Vladivostok, where the Bogatinsky reservoir is situated. A controlled release of water from this reservoir into the Bogataya River was initiated in response to the severe rains to prevent further overflow downstream.
Shestakov added that, as part of ongoing river management measures along the Second River, debris removal has been completed in the Description River area. Emergency services crews are evaluating conditions at schools and kindergartens, while road crews will prioritize repairs on major highways and public transport corridors before addressing local, smaller routes.
Forecasts indicate that heavy rainfall is expected to resume later in the week, with weather agencies cautioning residents to remain vigilant and prepared for renewed flooding risks.
Data from the Ministry of Emergency Situations show that 30 residential buildings and 322 neighboring properties were evacuated in the past day. In total, 1,042 houses were dried, and water was pumped from the basements of 862 homes as part of the flood response efforts.
In another note from social media, a story circulated about a courageous cleaning worker cited as the “city’s savior” amid Tuapse’s flood disaster, highlighting the human impact and community resilience during extreme weather events.
