This morning, the council approved repairs to the Alicante fairgrounds roof, signaling a prompt restoration plan. Aitana Mas, the vice-president and spokesperson for the Valencian administration, noted that the move involves a pair of emergency contracts. These agreements will impact the two pavilions managed by the Alicante Fair Authority (IFA). The Valencian government had previously outlined investment targets to support the project, highlighting the urgency of addressing the roof and related facilities.
The first contract covers the preparation of technical documentation and the construction management services required to guide the repair work. The second contract funds the actual repair activities for the damage sustained by the roofs and facilities of IFA Pavilions I and II. The allocated budgets are €36,717.45 for the planning phase and €253,674.71 for the construction phase. The Generalitat justified the urgency by presenting these measures as the fastest and most efficient means to contain the damage, warning that delays could compromise current effectiveness and safety.

Separately, the Valencian government approved additional measures affecting various public institutions in the Alicante province. A grant of €100,000 was approved for the Alicante Local Development Agency as part of a broader agreement between Impulsa Alicante and the Ministry of Innovation under the Innovative Zones of the Community of Valencia programme for 2023. The goal is to support projects and activities that enhance the quality of life for residents, with particular emphasis on the second phase of the Ciutadà Lab project known as Ci-Lab.
In another initiative, the Ministry of Participation will sign an agreement with the University of Alicante for €30,000 this year to promote activities related to citizen participation. This collaboration seeks to strengthen civic engagement and facilitate programs that encourage public involvement in community life.
