With the election countdown accelerating, tensions rise around new allegations. This morning, PSPV-PSOE publicly denounced to the Prosecutor’s Office the distribution of leaflets described as insulting and false within municipalities across the Community of Valencia. José Muñoz, the secretary of the socialist organization, labeled the unsigned campaign as an attempt to tarnish President Ximo Puig’s reputation by accusing him of crimes he did not commit, stating that such actions misuse the PSPV-PSOE identity for illegitimate political ends.
Muñoz went on to challenge the PPCV president, Carlos Mazon, asking whether he stood behind this “trash campaign” and urging him to show his face and speak candidly. He argued that if there is any involvement, it should be openly acknowledged rather than concealed, criticizing the effort as a form of political smuggling that injects worthless material into Valencian politics. He noted that the same photographs used in these leaflets were already seen in Carlos Mazón’s PP pre-election effort, suggesting a deliberate reuse of imagery to influence voters.
Are the leaflets distributed by PP in Alicante illegal?
Muñoz, serving as Organizing Secretary for the PSPV-PSOE, stressed that these actions undermine Valencian democracy. He condemned a party that calls itself democratic when its conduct displays a minimal ethical threshold, arguing that the strategy reflects a relentless push for power. According to him, opponents resort to provocative tactics when the political momentum shifts away from them, opting for what he described as crude and indisputable methods that erode public trust.
He also urged civil society and the media to cooperate in exposing who is truly responsible for the campaign, emphasizing the need for transparency. Muñoz stated that the Socialists would pursue a positive campaign aimed at continuing governance in the best interests of the Valencian community. He expressed confidence that a broad social majority would support a constructive path forward and insisted that the final results would reflect that consensus. He underscored a commitment to democratic values while calling for accountability and a calm, fact-based response from all parties involved.
