Across the Valencian Community, aid reached 98 municipalities. Local Government Director-General Toni Such announced after leading the Program Monitoring Commission that smaller communities with populations under 50,000 are moving to improve public building accessibility. This effort aims to ensure everyone can access services without barriers.
In Castellón, towns such as Portell de Morella and Visatabella del Maestrat, along with Casas Bajas in Valencia, are eligible for grants up to 150,000 euros to boost accessibility and prepare their public spaces for a broader range of residents.

Upcoming commitments include Rossell, which will receive 149,000 euros to enhance accessibility at the municipal swimming pool; Benissuera, with 148,000 euros, to update the municipal bar association facilities; Andilla with 134,000 euros; Pinet with 100,000 euros; and L’Alcora with 91,000 euros to improve asylum accessibility at town halls or community centers.
These grants, managed by the General Directorate of Local Government, support the removal of architectural barriers in public buildings. The aim is to make facilities usable for elderly residents and for people with disabilities or differing needs.
Consell’s upcoming transfer to Gabriel Miró
“With this initiative from Consell, those who have trouble entering and moving around town halls will find it easier. The barriers are removed so all people can access the same public services and the same quality,” stated Toni Such.
“We recognize budgetary and financial limits for small municipalities. That’s why we want to support people living in small towns to carry out these actions and prevent further difficulties.”
provinces
Provinces across the region report different levels of support. Valencia province received 2.9 million euros, Castellón province 1.45 million euros, and Alicante province 0.66 million euros in total aid.
Such noted that the program, in place since 2018, continues to attract interest during its six-year span, having funded more than 1,000 projects to improve accessibility. He also highlighted a 25% increase in the total grant amount compared with the 2021 call.
“The goal is to help the smallest towns,” Such explained, noting that grants can cover up to 100% of project costs with eligible totals reaching up to one million euros.
Beneficiary municipalities in Alicante include Altea, Benferri, Benimassot, Bolulla, Calp, Daya Vieja, Hondón de las Nieves, La Romana, La Vall d’Alcalà, Monforte del Cid, Novelda, Onil, Parcent, Quatretondeta, San Isidro, Sant Joan d’Alacant, and Tollos. [Source: Consell, Local Government]
