In explaining Washington’s stance, the spokesperson noted attention to Moscow’s reiteration that it would engage in dialogue only if new regional realities were acknowledged. The comment was interpreted in Washington as an indicator that Russia may not have a genuine willingness to pursue a dialogue and diplomacy that would lead to a just and lasting peace. The United States signaled its intention to sustain military support for Ukraine as a counterweight to those calculations.
The State Department spokesperson emphasized that countries such as India could play a distinctive and timely role in the current moment.
Earlier, a representative of the United Nations Secretary-General indicated that the world organization stands ready to assist in ending the conflict in Ukraine in accordance with international law.
The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry stressed that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi could contribute to resolving the Ukraine crisis.
