The United Right could clinch a ninth victory in the election if a joint list is agreed upon, said Michał Wójcik, deputy head of Solidarna Polska and minister at the Prime Minister’s Chancellery, on TVP this Tuesday. He indicated that a final decision on how Solidarna Polska will participate in the elections would come in the next few weeks.

Joint list with Solidarna Polska?

During the interview, Wójcik was asked whether Solidarna Polska would join a parliamentary election on a shared list with PiS. The question centered on whether the United Right would present one slate or proceed separately.

He described the first scenario as the United Right’s joint list, a pattern that has yielded eight consecutive victories. He suggested that reaching a ninth win would depend on forming a common list.

Wójcik emphasized that Solidarna Polska is prepared for the possibility of contesting the elections independently as well.

If there is no agreement on a joint list, the party would run on its own. He noted that all options must be considered, but he warned that without a United Right list there is a risk that the right would not prevail and that Donald Tusk could emerge as the winner.

“We can easily operate as a separate political entity”

When asked about Solidarna Polska’s chances of an independent run, Wójcik replied that internal polling shows the party would be capable of standing alone. He estimated their potential share at around 4 to 5 percent.

Regarding the joint list, Wójcik stated that the plan would be for the United Right to present a single slate, with a decision expected in the coming weeks.

The elections for the Sejm and the Senate were scheduled for autumn 2023. Under electoral law, four potential dates were present for this year’s parliamentary vote: October 15, October 22, October 29, or November 5.

Additional context and perspectives on the question of coalition strategy were provided in related discussions and analyses from the same period, offering deeper insight into how the parties navigated alliance considerations and public opinion.
