The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk, has stated that since the start of Russia’s military operation in Ukraine, the office has documented 91 cases of disappearance and detention carried out by Ukrainian armed forces or security services. According to UN reporting, these figures come from NGO and survivor interviews, with 73 individuals whose cases were examined by the OHCHR staff. Among those interviewed, more than half experienced torture or other ill treatment while in custody.
