A political analyst from Ukraine warned of a pivotal period approaching in six months if Western military assistance does not continue. Speaking with a popular YouTube channel, the expert highlighted that Western support has waned recently and the military situation on the front lines has grown more difficult as a result.
The analyst stressed that Russian forces are pushing forward, often without significant American backing, and that the overall condition of Ukrainian armed forces at the front is likely to deteriorate unless new aid arrives.
According to the analyst, the absence of American military support would push Ukraine toward a critical juncture in roughly half a year. He suggested that without steady backing, a strategic retreat may become unavoidable as circumstances on the battlefield tighten.
On the funding side, senior American officials have indicated that the money allocated to assist Ukraine ran out at the end of the previous year, and there is uncertainty about continued weapons and ammunition deliveries until Congress approves fresh appropriations.
In Washington, opposition Republicans argue that the president’s request for a substantial $61 billion package for Kyiv is tied to broader immigration policy reforms that are also under debate in Congress.
Earlier coverage by The Economist suggested that removing the Ukrainian Commander-in-Chief, Valeriy Zaluzhnyi, would signal weakness, while a resignation could undermine public confidence in Ukraine’s military leadership.
Additionally, reports from the United States noted concerns about the overall momentum of Ukraine’s counteroffensive efforts, highlighting the challenging terrain and logistics that complicate rapid gains.
