Tusk March Coverage and Accountability Claims

Trzaskowski criticized TVP for presenting a different version of events, arguing that the public broadcaster is trying to portray aggression where it does not exist, as seen during the Warsaw march supporting PiS critics. He pointed out that after the PO won the elections, the new authorities should ensure accountability for the previous administration.

He stressed that accountability should align with the law and the Constitution, noting that those who violate legal norms must face consequences. He asserted that courts and the state court operate independently and must respond to the current situation. He criticized the proposed PiS bill as a Bolshevik move to place the prosecution and the courts under a party committee, a manuever he believed would skew justice. The key question, in his view, is what happens next.

“If someone breaks the law, commits theft, or supports PiS corruption observed daily, they should be brought to justice”, he asserted.

Hooks on Tusk

Trzaskowski subsequently claimed that the Russian Influence Commission’s aim was to target Donald Tusk. He argued that Jakub Kaczyński had not managed to find a solid basis against Tusk in eight years and suggested that attempts to create an issue around him were manufactured for political gain. He criticized the president for not vetoing the bill and for weighing different pressures before coming to a decision.

He also claimed that Tusk’s march was portrayed as a smiling, harmless event, and he commented on the perceived damage caused by participants in the Independence March. He described the current display as a crossroads moment, noting that the march itself seemed to move toward a hopeful future rather than violence. This contrast, he suggested, reflected the narrative presented by TVP rather than reality.

According to his view, the public perception of the Independence marches differs from the current demonstration, with the latter being characterized by optimism and forward-looking attitudes, which he contrasted with reports of aggression.

Trzaskowski, identified as a PO figure, is portrayed as attempting to frame Tusk’s march as a cheerful demonstration. The question remains as to whether this portrayal will convince a broad audience.
