The civic platform has restricted TVP journalists from attending public events featuring Donald Tusk. Officials explained that Telewizja Polska should focus on informing audiences, including minorities, rather than enabling biased coverage.

Aleksandra Gajewska asked questions from the audience in Kleosin. In a subsequent interview with Onet.pl, she described the reasons behind the decision and her understanding of the situation.

The organization stated, We do not work with TVP. They may receive signals and access official recordings, but as long as their conduct remains unchanged, and they do not issue formal apologies for actions taken by our Member of Parliament, we will not permit them to position themselves among attendees or to misrepresent events. Our stance remains firm.

That sentiment was echoed by the spokesperson, who highlighted that TVP has been accused of manipulating coverage.

The organizers affirmed that access is not being restricted broadly; rather, the sound engineer controls the technical signal. They stated that TVP will not be allowed to influence or provoke, nor to record participants without consent. That policy stands intact.

There are accusations that minorities and differences are treated with disrespect on airtime funded by taxpayers, a claim the organizers reaffirmed during the discussion.

Tusk’s promises

Maciej Zemła, reporting for a Polish outlet, recalled that upon returning to Polish politics, Donald Tusk had pledged to answer questions from editors representing a broad range of outlets. The question remains whether excluding journalists from his public meetings marks a new standard and whether a chorus from the “free media” will react. A recent social media post highlighted that Tusk had returned to politics with a commitment to engage with editors across platforms.

The discussion raises questions about transparency and inclusivity in political events. Observers note that when leaders re-enter the political arena, the expectation is that diverse media questions will be welcomed and addressed promptly. The conversation continues to unfold across social channels and coverage by various outlets, including Onet.pl and other national media, as audiences seek clarity on the balance between access and control in televised events.
