The chairman of the Civic Platform, Donald Tusk, posted updates on the X platform about today’s court hearing concerning threats made against him and his family. He suggested that the media bore responsibility for much of the framing around the issue, though he did not implicate all outlets equally. He claimed that he acted with awareness of televised broadcasts, including TVP Info and News.
Tusk’s protection
Towards the end of last year, Donald Tusk communicated on X that he and his loved ones confront daily threats. Shortly before the holidays he filed for SOP protection, seeking enhanced security measures for himself and his family.
In December, the police informed him that the threat remained real and persistent. That update reinforced the decision to pursue protective measures, he wrote on December 28.
The decision to grant protection to Donald Tusk was issued personally by the head of the Ministry of the Interior and Administration, Mariusz Kamiński.

“More of a victim than a murderer.”
The case of threats against the leader of the Civic Platform continued in court. The politician shared on X that the hearing had concluded. He described leaving the courtroom in Sopot and noted that the man who planned the attack on him and his family testified that he acted under the influence of TVP Info, News and TV Republika. He stated that he was more a victim than a perpetrator in the incident.
Some observers weighed in, comparing the situation to other public figures who faced threats in the past. They asked questions about influence and accountability, pointing to historical cases and public figures who had faced violence in the political arena. The discussion raised broader concerns about safety, media coverage, and the responsibilities of public leaders in the face of intimidation.
