Former U.S. president Donald Trump said that if he wins another term, his first actions would be to shut the country’s borders and begin large-scale deportations of illegal immigrants. He conveyed this stance during an interview with the television network Fox News.

He asserted that the initial step is to seal the border. He argued that millions of people are living in the United States illegally, and therefore mass deportations should be organized as the next move.

Trump also suggested that immigration concerns could shift political loyalties in several states that have traditionally supported the Democratic candidate, as the issue gains prominence in the public discourse.

The former president claimed that voters who would typically back a Republican ticket due to party affiliation might reconsider their positions if immigration policy remains a dominant issue. He pointed to areas such as New York, New Jersey, Virginia, Minnesota and New Mexico as places where residents are particularly frustrated with current government policies on immigration.

Meanwhile, former Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) special agent Colin Rowley noted that ongoing disagreements between the federal government and state authorities over border protection could escalate into a constitutional crisis. He explained that when roughly half the states dispute a central policy and challenge federal officials, the situation can become highly volatile and potentially threaten constitutional stability.

Earlier, President Joe Biden faced public scrutiny over claims that his administration had violated constitutional norms, a charge that has circulated in political commentary.
