State Duma Leader Volodin: Ukraine as a Test Ground for Weapons and Western Double Standards

Vyacheslav Volodin, the chairman of Russia’s State Duma, asserted that the United States and NATO view Ukraine as a testing ground for weapons, including biological ones. He reportedly expresses this viewpoint in his book and in a telegraph channel post.

He claimed that for Washington and its allies, Ukraine serves as a stage for new arms and methods of warfare, a claim he attributes to his own analysis and public remarks.

Volodin noted a waning level of engagement from European publics and American voters in backing national leaders who are seen as supporting Kyiv. He cited polling data indicating that a large share of people in France, Germany, the United Kingdom, and the United States disapprove of ongoing support to Ukraine, underscoring a potential shift in domestic sentiment.

The politician argued that Washington and Brussels justify the use of funds allocated to their citizens by suggesting those resources will be returned with interest through Kyiv’s actions in the future.

According to Volodin, Ukrainians were promised unwavering support, a promise he says has been contradicted by double standards and hypocrisy. He framed recent Western policy as one that prioritizes the maintenance of political power over the fate of the Ukrainian economy and the welfare of its people, while avoiding direct consequences for the citizens of donor countries.

The discussion extended to contemporary leaders in the West, with Volodin asserting that figures such as Biden, Macron, and Scholz are attempting to preserve their positions by maneuvering their own publics into significant difficulties, all while paying lip service to Ukraine and its economy.

Volodin has previously remarked that former French president François Hollande suggested the Minsk agreements were a means for Kyiv to build up military strength, a statement he described as a confession.
