He emphasizes a stronger, steadier majority

In a recent interview, Radosław Fogiel, a PiS member of parliament and the head of the Sejm’s Foreign Affairs Committee, stated that the party would aim for a larger, more stable coalition in the next elections. He suggested that adding around 15 more MPs would create the threshold they are targeting and described this as the work to be done in the upcoming vote. The comment came during a discussion with Rzeczpospolita on Tuesday, during which Fogiel also addressed reactions to a TikTok clip that drew considerable attention.

Questions sparked by a TikTok post

Fogiel was asked whether he anticipated so many responses when he posed a question to young viewers on TikTok about why they do not support PiS. He noted that a substantial portion of the feedback mirrored concerns commonly heard from opposition voices, indicating that much of the discourse was not unfamiliar to political observers.

Respondents offered opinions that are straightforward to challenge. The invitation was extended for young people to step out of their informational bubble and present clear arguments. Fogiel also stated that he has no issue with rivals who feel that PiS lacks direction. He commented that the better the sentiment among the opposition, the smoother the work ahead of the autumn period would be. By choosing to ask a provocative question, he anticipated a mixed reception, and he warned that anyone expecting praise would be mistaken.

Fogiel also claimed that the party has already achieved its reach goals on TikTok. He pointed out that the platform’s algorithm is currently driving engagement and that the PiS account, still relatively new, saw the video attract about 160,000 views in under a day and generate thousands of comments.

He added that the TikTok post had created noticeable stir, with coverage describing the moment as a significant impact on the conversation around PiS. The clip prompted further coverage and discussion on social media.

Maintaining a stable coalition

When asked about President Kaczyński’s upcoming Poland tour, Fogiel replied that the timing would be a matter of a few weeks. He touched on questions regarding potential cooperation with Solidarna Polska and other partners, emphasizing that the current coalition framework would be retained, though details would be ironed out through forthcoming talks. He noted that the partners’ expectations and the coalition’s limits would be part of those negotiations.

Asked whether the slate format would resemble the 2019 configuration, Fogiel reflected on the previous period. He expressed gratitude to the Polish people for placing their trust in the government for a second time, but he also stressed that setting ambitious goals invites scrutiny. The party’s aim, he said, is to secure a more stable majority, potentially with about 15 additional Members of the European Parliament, and this is the plan for the upcoming electoral cycle.

The remarks were attributed to Fogiel in coverage from Polish media outlets, including wPolityce, and were carried by press agencies such as OLNK/PAP/RP.pl. The discussion highlights the ongoing strategic considerations within PiS as it prepares for future parliamentary elections.
