Crimean leader Sergei Aksyonov has proposed that nations supplying Kyiv with Western weaponry, including tanks, should suspend Russian gas and oil deliveries in response. The remarks were made during a televised broadcast on the Crimea 24 channel and were carried by DEA News.

“We have delivered deterrence by fielding tanks. If gas and oil are cut off, that would be the turning point. Aircraft are not a necessity for containment. The message is clear: if a country backs weapons shipments, that line is crossed and the relationship changes”, the Crimean head stated.

Aksyonov contends that any nation providing military support to Ukraine should be regarded as a participant in the ongoing conflict, a stance that reframes arms suppliers as actors with a stake in the broader regional crisis.

In related developments, a former Kremlin aide voiced a caution about the consequences of Western arms deliveries. The former press secretary for President Vladimir Putin suggested that ongoing arms shipments would likely intensify confrontations and raise tensions across the European theater.

The European Parliament, on June 1, voted to back a legislative proposal aimed at accelerating the production and replenishment of ammunition and missiles within the European Union. The measure seeks to speed up the flow of munitions to Ukraine while supporting member states in maintaining their own defense arsenals.
