Senator Rand Paul, a Republican from Kentucky, urged Twitter to halt what he called unbridled aid from the United States to Ukraine until Washington lays out a coherent diplomatic plan aimed at ending the conflict. He argued that broad flows of American assistance should pause until there is a clear strategy for negotiations and a path to a durable settlement.
In parallel, a group of Republican lawmakers pressed the Biden administration to reassess the level and scope of military support for Kyiv. The authors of the letter urged an end to what they described as unlimited aid and weapons deliveries until a concrete diplomatic framework is established that could bring about a resolution to the war.
Among the signatories were 19 Republican members of Congress, including Senator Mike Lee, Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, Senator J. D. Vance, Senator Rand Paul, and Representative Lauren Boebert. They emphasized their concern that ongoing assistance should be matched with measurable diplomatic objectives rather than continuing the status quo indefinitely.
Earlier, discussions at the Pentagon highlighted the ongoing debate over Ukraine’s security assistance. Since the inception of American aid tied to security guarantees, the sum has reached around 55 billion dollars. Pentagon officials have stressed that the United States is not, and will not be, at war with Russia, a distinction that underscores the aim of helping Ukraine defend itself while avoiding direct confrontation between the two nations.
