In Santa Pola, the PSOE leadership secured broad agreement during an extraordinary meeting of the provincial secretary’s team. The gathering, led by Alejandro Soler, included key parties such as Yolanda Seva, Lázaro Azorín, and Patricia Blanquer, who confirmed their intention to stand for Congress after the General Elections.
The session at the fisher village headquarters mobilized all members to review and approve items on the agenda. This assembly is part of the internal process used to nominate socialist men and women for submission to the general assembly elections. The date noted for the session was July 23.

The immediate focus of the assembly was the approval of nominations to the Cortes Generales. At this stage, a single proposal exists for the Senate from the incumbent deputy senator, Ana Martínez Zaragoza. The executive provided guidance in a statement, indicating that information would be prepared and the commission would review the various candidates. Following this, the proposal would be handed to the regional body for final approval by the Federal Committee on June 10, as stated by David Hernández, secretary of the Local Executive.
David García, who served as organizational secretary for the Santa Pola PSOE at the time of the assembly, participated in the proceedings and provided the details of the deliberations.
“The result was not what was expected”
The third and final agenda item concerned the evaluation of the Municipal Election results. Secretary General and mayoral candidate Yolanda Seva Ruíz presented the outcomes on May 28. She remarked that the party did not achieve all its goals, but despite strong opposition from the right and the far right, it managed to preserve its council seats in Santa Pola and even increased overall support.
In response, Seva emphasized the need for a disciplined and constructive opposition that promotes the party’s long-standing values. She highlighted that the Socialist Party remains a historic force, with more than a century and a half of public service behind it. Looking ahead, she called for a local growth strategy that involves active participation from the community and a strengthened membership base to drive development in Santa Pola, ensuring every santapolera benefits from the city’s progress.
