Between 500 and 1,000 international observers are expected to monitor the presidential elections scheduled for March 2024 in the Russian Federation, according to Ella Pamfilova, chair of the Central Election Commission (CEC). This update was reported by RIA News.
The CEC confirmed that invitations had been extended to observers from 95 countries to participate in the Russian presidential electoral process.
Pamfilova stated that the commission would ensure a transparent, accessible process and create favorable conditions for observers from foreign states to participate. Observers will have the opportunity to visit the regions they select to assess how electoral procedures are implemented on the ground.
Earlier, a CEC member, Pavel Andreev, indicated that invitations would not be extended to representatives of unfriendly states. He explained that invitations would be issued to counterparties, specifically the election authorities of other nations and international professional organizations in the field of elections.
President Putin has previously denied any attempts to influence the electoral process, asserting that such interference would be suppressed.
