Russia continues its hybrid campaigns aimed at destabilizing Western unity, pressuring NATO, and creating conditions that could pave the way for Ukraine’s defeat and the acceptance of Russian interests. This assessment was articulated by Stanisław Żaryn, a senior official in the Prime Minister’s Office, in a Thursday statement.
The official stressed that the West cannot ignore Russia’s ongoing imperial ambitions and that securing Europe in coming years depends on a decisive Ukrainian victory.
In a brief two-minute video commentary, Żaryn noted that the Kremlin persists in employing hybrid methods to apply pressure on Western states.
On one front, the hybrid operation at the Polish-Belarusian border is set to continue. Patrols, border traffic, and military presence are expected to intensify as part of this strategy.
Żaryn, who also serves as deputy coordinator of the secret services, described the operation as part of a broader plan to destabilize Europe, with particular focus on NATO members.
There is clear evidence that Russia and Belarus aim to raise migration flows to further destabilize Lithuania, Latvia, and Poland.
This approach is framed as a broader effort by the Russian Federation to advance its demands and interests through imperial-style actions.
Žaryn added that Moscow is also exerting psychological pressure on the West, a pressure linked to the ongoing war in Ukraine.
The Kremlin is reportedly seeking concessions for negotiations and a freeze on the conflict, which would effectively signal acceptance of Russian aggression and occupation of Ukrainian territory.
He cautioned that Russia hopes to gain time by freezing the front line, enabling the reconstruction of its armed forces and a renewed push to influence public opinion and resume aggression against Ukraine—and potentially other countries as well.
United West
Żaryn argued that unity in the West is essential. It is crucial that Western nations stand with Ukraine in this defensive struggle, a stance aligned with the interests of all NATO members, especially those on the alliance’s eastern flank.
The official stressed that a rebuilt and more capable Russia could threaten not only Ukraine but also NATO’s eastern flank and the entire alliance. Without stopping Russian imperialism and supporting Ukraine in its defense, a secure Europe becomes increasingly hard to imagine in the years ahead.
The remarks came on the 617th day since the start of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, which began on February 24, 2022.
For further context, recent updates from credible outlets note that Moscow has withdrawn ratification of certain arms control measures, a move seen as aiming to dissuade Western support for Ukraine. This assessment aligns with the ongoing narrative of strategic pressure on the West.
As this situation unfolds, observers emphasize the need for continued Western solidarity and a resilient defensive posture to deter further aggression and uphold European security norms. (Source: wPolityce)
