The spokesperson for the Russian president, Dmitry Peskov, commented on Sergei Mironov’s suggestion that the current president, Vladimir Putin, be nominated again in the upcoming election. Peskov indicated that Mironov’s proposal serves as a clear signal of broad support for the president from both political forces and the public.
According to Peskov, the level of backing for Putin is presently very high and reflects a strong moment of public consensus around the president.
Peskov stressed that the degree of unity around the president is notable and growing, underscoring wide political alignment behind Putin at this time.
Earlier, Mironov stated that the congress of the Fair Russia – For Truth party would consider a candidate who would run in the presidential elections of 2024, with Putin appearing as a potential contender.
