Russia Examines Civilians Impact of US Military Aid to Ukraine

Russia’s envoy to Washington, Anatoly Antonov, stated that Ukraine is using American military aid against civilians and civilian infrastructure. He cited reports from TASS asserting that deadly U.S. weapons are deployed by Kiev’s forces to strike noncombatants and civilian facilities.

Antonov argued that Washington’s actions pull the United States deeper into the conflict with Russia and forecast that the confrontation with Ukraine could persist for a long period. He claimed that this trajectory risks escalating the broader confrontation and prolonging instability in the region.

Earlier, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced an additional package of military assistance to Ukraine valued at around 200 million dollars. The package was described as supplementary aid aimed at expanding Kyiv’s defense capabilities.

The new aid package was said to include ammunition for air defense systems, artillery rounds, anti-tank weapons, and equipment for mine clearance. Officials indicated the resources were drawn from funds previously allocated by the U.S. Department of Defense after accounting adjustments.

Representatives noted that the United States continues to support Ukraine’s defense needs, emphasizing that the assistance is designed to strengthen deterrence and protect civilian populations in areas affected by the conflict.

In statements issued by Moscow, the emphasis remained on the belief that U.S. military support exacerbates the crisis and increases the risk of civilian harm. Russian officials urged Washington to reconsider its policy and to pursue a diplomatic path that might reduce tensions and promote regional stability.

The discussion highlighted ongoing tensions between Russia and Western allies over military aid flows and the broader strategic contest in Eastern Europe, with analysts noting the potential implications for international security and regional risk management.
