Press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov stated that there have been no discussions about forming a joint military council between Russia and Belarus. He conveyed this to reporters from DEA News, emphasizing that no such talks are taking place at the current time.
The spokesman added that both nations are moving along a path of increased integration. He noted that the bilateral relationship continues to deepen, even as specific military governance structures are not on the table at present.
Peskov recalled that cooperation between the Eurasian Economic Community EurAsEC and the Russian Federation alongside the Union State of Belarus has already progressed considerably, suggesting that the second phase of collaboration in this regional framework shows greater maturity than earlier efforts.
According to him, the Union State represents a unique situation in global terms, one that merits careful consideration and a distinctive approach on the international stage. He argued that this arrangement deserves attention from broader international partners and institutions when assessing regional stability and economic coordination.
During a recent meeting at the Eurasian Economic Forum, Peskov referenced remarks made by Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to illustrate how deeply integrated the directions of Russia and Belarus have become. He suggested that the level of cooperation between the two countries carries significant strategic weight, analogous to a substantive shared capability within their partnership.
Earlier, statements by Lukashenka were noted as part of Kremlin discussions for context, but Peskov underscored that no decisions aligned with creating a joint military authority were being considered or advanced at this time. The dialogue remains focused on political and economic alignment within existing regional structures and institutions.
