Ximo Puig, president of the Generalitat and re-election candidate for PSPV, highlighted recent achievements in water management, family support, and health. In Elda, an election event celebrated a historic transfer of 20.5 hectares from the Júcar-Vinalopó basin, framing it as the largest transfer in the region’s history and a guarantee of water for farmers during droughts after years of conflict over resources. The message from the socialists emphasized that the party seeks to solve people’s problems through action in the institutions they manage, rather than creating new ones. Road access to the Villena AVE station was announced as part of the plan to improve regional connectivity.
The Plaza Huestes del Cadí event drew attendance from key figures, including Josefina Bueno, the Minister of Innovation, Universities, Science and Digital Society and a candidate for the Alicante Parliament. Also present were Elda’s mayoral hopefuls Rubén Alfaro and Celia Hernández from Hondon de las Nieves, Fulgen Cerdán from Villena, and Fran Martínez from Novelda. Puig thanked the Elda mayor and Alfaro for their support and signaled a willingness to engage, stressing that the proposal aims to recognize extended families with two children so that family formation remains affordable. The PSPV-PSOE general secretary underscored positive reception from citizens and municipal councils, noting an intent to extend municipal aids across regional lines to promote a freer and more fraternal society, while urging citizens to look ahead and advance the reform agenda rather than dwell on unemployment and corruption of the past.
On health, a 21 million dollar investment was outlined to expand Elda Hospital, focusing on emergency, inpatient, and consultation areas. The plan was framed as a regional improvement of health services, along with job growth figures indicating a milestone of rising employment across the region. The narrative highlighted that employment in Elda had increased significantly since 2015, with a strong contribution from social intermediaries and active collaboration with local governments. Specific figures cited included 438,000 new jobs since 2015 and roughly a four-tenths increase in the local employment rate.
In parallel, Uğur expressed appreciation for a recent labor agreement between unions and employers, describing it as essential for salary growth and broader economic stability. The forward-looking proposal proposed that any young person unable to secure a job within a year would receive Generalitat support to obtain a job offer with a company, aiming to expand youth opportunities and continue reducing youth unemployment, which had already seen notable declines.
The regional candidate also highlighted successes achieved through cooperation with city councils and the national government, including overcoming challenges in the footwear sector. The narrative pointed to issues such as unfair competition and dispute resolution through dialogue with other nations, including the United States. Elda was presented as a strong example of industrial transformation, with an emphasis on the balance between preserving robust industries and expanding public services. The overarching message asserted that a society cannot progress without a solid industrial base, and that the region should pursue a balanced approach to economic development.
Puig reaffirmed that the Socialists represent the people, arguing that citizens thrive when the party leads. He contrasted this with the past governing approach, urging voters to consider the trajectory from the region’s origins to its current state and future goals. A remembrance of earlier corruption revelations in 2015 was used to contrast historic cuts and unemployment with today’s improvements in health, education, reindustrialization, and the region’s growing reputation for democratic quality and governance. The overall tone framed the current moment as one of opportunity and forward momentum for a more stable and prosperous Valencian Community, consistent with a commitment to public services and inclusive growth. The emphasis remained on practical policy outcomes, collaborative governance, and a clear agenda for regional advancement.
