Three emails tied to the case of the underage ward who suffered abuse at the hands of a monitor, who is the ex-husband of the former councilor and former vice president of the Valencian government, Mónica Oltra, have been recovered by the technical operations group of the Provincial Police Brigade. The emails were exchanged between December 4 and December 13, 2019, and are documented in the police report submitted to the case that investigates how Oltra’s office handled this matter.

These are the only messages recovered from the second period authorized by the investigative court, Instructing Court No. 15, covering October to December 2019. This timeframe was chosen because the first sentence convicting the monitor for sexual abuse was made public on December 2 of that year. The extension of the investigative period was decided by the Fourth Section of the Valencia Court of Appeal after a petition by Gobiernate, the association formed by the ultranational agitator Cristina Seguí.

The rest of the emails from the twelve individuals who formed Oltra’s cabinet remain inaccessible because they were deleted. The head of the Generalitat’s Systems Department told investigators that once a civil servant leaves a post, access to the official email mailbox ends and, after one month, all mailbox content is erased, including cloud copies, unless an express suspension request is made for this measure.

One exception is the account of Oltra’s former chief of staff, Miquel Real, which was not erased because an express suspension request was in place due to ongoing litigation. That suspension was requested by Real himself. From defense counsel circles, INFORMACIÓN reports that a similar request was made to the Generalitat to avoid wiping Oltra’s and Real’s computers, to preserve access during the proceedings before Instructing Court No. 15 in Valencia.

The three located emails that have a direct connection to the case are identified by the subject line that matches Communication Niño Jesús and the case file number for the minor’s protection. These messages were examined by the Judicial Police, though the court order notified to the parties on Tuesday does not reveal their contents.
