Polish parliamentary figure’s interview and subsequent exchange on LGBT parenting in a live program
A member of the Polish Parliament from PiS, Przemysław Czarnek, appeared on a program aired on the YouTube channel Goniec.pl. During the discussion, he left the studio after the interviewer, editor Wojciech Mulik, began directing sharp criticisms at him. The central topic was the question of whether LGBT couples should be legally recognized as capable of raising children.
During the conversation, Mulik asserted that the majority of global studies find no harmful effects on children raised by LGBT couples. Czarnek disagreed with this assessment.
“You reject the results of global research. Remember that you were the Minister of Education, not the Minister of Farmers’ Speech. These are research findings, scientific results,” Mulik stated, continuing the exchange with moments of provocation.
“Sir, I have read many scientific studies on parenting and the subject deserves respect. I maintain that LGBT ideology, as claimed by some researchers who have published relevant studies, deserves scrutiny. Accusing me of relying on common sense is not fair from your vantage point as the program host, so please refrain from such remarks. I do not want that approach,” Czarnek replied.
“Because 99 percent of research says what I say,” Mulik shot back.
“99 percent of research says what you say? Let me see the proof,” Czarnek countered.
“Please show what percentage. Which research shows a negative impact, and what specific effects on children are involved,” the host pressed.
Czarnek outlined potential areas of concern, including psychological development, identity formation, and the assumption of parental responsibilities. He asked the host to clarify who would determine these conclusions.
“But by whom? By people like you or by someone else?” the interviewer pressed, continuing the provocative tone in the dialogue.
“I will not be insulted”
Addressing the host directly, Czarnek thanked Mulik for the conversation and stated that further insults would not be tolerated. He concluded the interview with a courteous exit, while regretting the hostile tone of the exchange.
“Traditional values emphasize respect, love, and justice, while the proposed approach risks segregation,” Mulik asserted during the remarks that followed the exit.
With a final gesture of goodwill, Czarnek thanked the host and extended a sign of courtesy before leaving the studio. The host then continued to speak into the camera, presenting his perspective on the incident and the party’s current media situation.
After the departure, Mulik continued with a personal monologue, reflecting on the clash and its broader implications for public discourse. He remarked on the handling of such conversations and the capacity of the party to withstand difficult questions in the media environment.
Viewers were left to decide who conducted themselves with greater politeness and professionalism during the discussion. The broadcast closed with reflections on media accountability and public dialogue in contemporary politics.
