Civic support platform for the head of the Generalitat Valenciana, Ximo Puig. It was unveiled in La Vila Joiosa on 28 May, at a gathering held at the Club Náutico, ahead of regional elections. The event included an emphasis on regional promotion and featured the Director of Tourist Intelligence of Turisme Comunitat Valenciana. Mario Villar, ranked fifth on the regional list that PSPV-PSOE will present in the elections slated for the coming months, spoke at the event. In addition to Villar, a number of platform members from Marina Baixa were introduced, including Sergi Castillo Prats from Benidorm who is independently listed as number 2 on the municipal ticket; Vicente Pérez Llorens, a businessman from l’Alfàs del Pi; Adrià Llobell Sala, a teacher from Teulada; Pepe Díaz Azorín, a painter from Altea; Pepe Piqueras, an artist from La Vila Joiosa; and Enrique Giménez, an Honorary Professor of History from Sella.

Impulse

The platform brings together independent figures bound by shared values and ideas about a welfare-oriented state. It seeks to empower younger generations, encouraging them to embrace these values. The speaker recalled personal experience from the pandemic, noting that it reinforced the sense of solidarity and the importance of plans that prioritize people. Tourism, a key sector, accounts for about 15% of the Valencia Community’s GDP. In the Alicante province, the industry is a major economic driver that supports livelihoods and local communities. The group advocates for a forward-looking, transformative tourism sector that serves as a catalyst for regional development.

The organizers stressed that having a representative within the Generalitat’s leadership strengthens their message and helps align a clear path for the future. One participant emphasized the need to back Puig as president and to place Villar high on the electoral list. The goal is to collaborate on a shared project that benefits the region, with a focus on long-term growth. The discussion highlighted the role of tourism as a central economic engine and expressed a commitment to attracting talent and opportunities within the sector, including efforts to re-engage individuals who paused their studies or are seeking work. The overarching aim is to present a coherent vision for the region’s development and to mobilize participants around a common political program.

Eight years

Earlier introductions of the platform took place in Alicante, Orihuela, Elche, Alcoy and Ondara. The group presents Puig’s leadership over the past eight years as head of the Generalitat as a track record of steady governance and regional progress. The campaign seeks broad support in the polls for the regional Socialist candidate, while questions about loyalty and voting intentions are acknowledged. Some supporters note the desire to vote for Ximo Puig specifically, rather than for the PSPV as a party, and point out that platform members may cast votes for other options in local and general elections. The message remains focused on backing Puig’s vision and on uniting diverse voices behind a unified regional plan.
